Meet the host - Amanda Kirkpatrick

No stranger to the local hospitality and food sector in NI, Amanda is an events professional, having worked in the industry for over 15 years. She plays host to a number of events across the country and is also a well-known vocalist and performer in her own right. This is Amanda’s second year hosting the Producer’s Table area, where she will yet again, create a space for audience members and producers to engage, share knowledge and explore the taste of local foods on offer, throughout the show.

My name is Chi Keung Ng (CK). My culinary journey began at fourteen when I started a cooking apprenticeship at Jade Garden, a renowned restaurant owned by Maxim in Hong Kong. After four years of training there, I moved to the UK in 1982 to continue my studies in East London while also carrying on my advance training in Chinese cuisine.
In 1985, I moved to Northern Ireland where I worked and studied. At 24, I opened my first Chinese Takeaway, followed by three more takeaways and two restaurants over the next decade, all of which proved very successful. With 44 years in the catering industry, including 30 years running my own businesses, I’ve gained extensive experience and knowledge in various cuisines such as Chinese, Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese and European…

The Dundarave Estate was built back in 1840 in a time when nothing went unused, the estate was mainly self sufficient from growing our own peaches in the greenhouse to harvesting apples, plums, damsons and wild garlic which was all put to good use in the service of the house. We are a multi award winning artisan chilli grower, chilli jam and hot sauce producer based in Bangor, Co Down. We grow many unique varieties of chillies and use them to flavour our original chilli jams, chilli chutneys and hot sauces. In 2023 our chilli plants were used by Ards & North Down Borough Council for display in their Chilli Festival.
